Judging process

We have an eminent panel of judges, consisting of experts from industry and agency as well as healthcare professionals who will undertake our 2 stage judging process.

We recognise and understand the sensitive nature of the information submitted in your entries, and as such, every judge is required to sign a legally binding confidentiality agreement before appointment.

We can confirm that once judging has been completed, all entries and associated information will be destroyed.

Judging criteria

All entries (except for the Craft awards and award for best Project/Account Manager) will be judged on the following criteria:

1. Campaign objectives and strategy (10%)

  • Clearly defined SMART objectives for your entry / campaign

2. Tactical implementation (delivery) (40%)

  • Describe how your campaign was developed and implemented to address your objectives
  • Cover the technological, creative and craft elements of your campaign, including key content, features and functionality
  • Describe how you have communicated and tailored the scientific information in an appropriate way for your target audience
  • Cover the careful targeting and use of appropriate media

3. Innovation (20%)

  • Describe the creativity and innovation in your content, presentation or delivery

4. Effectiveness: Outcomes versus objectives (30%)

  • Focus on how outcomes were achieved against your stated objectives
  • This should include internal and external stakeholder feedback as appropriate
  • Quantitative ROI measures should be included where available

NB: The 2 craft awards will be judged on the merits of the film/animation or the innovation submitted. More weight will be placed on technical skills, creativity, innovation and impact of message than on proven outcomes/effectiveness.

Phase 1

This will be an initial on-line review of all entries – either as a video capture (where you can highlight those areas you really want the judges to focus on) – or a live version of your entry.

All entries must be uploaded through the PM Society Digital Awards website using the entry template (again highlighting the key areas of interest).

Click here for further details regarding the technical specification requirements for supplying your entry files.

Phase 2

Having shortlisted the initial entries, all selected finalists will be invited to undertake a personal presentation, followed by questioning from the judges, to allow us to make commendations and identify the winners for their categories.

Shortlisted entrants will be invited to deliver a 5 minute presentation covering the above areas, followed by 2 minutes of questioning, at a date to be confirmed in early September.

The judging panels reserve the right to disqualify or move entries into alternative categories from those originally entered, if they deem it applicable. The organisers will advise you if this is the case with any of your own entries.

The second round entries will constitute the Finalists all of which will be mentioned at the awards ceremony where the winners (and highly commended / commended) will be announced. The finalists will be announced on this website following each judging session and all finalists notified directly.

In order to create an entry show reel for display at the ceremony, all finalists will be required to supply the following materials by 26 August 2011.

  • Apple Quicktime (MOV)
  • 1024 x 768 resolution
